Edith - Head of Reservations
There's a new voice answering our phones now at The Clock House and some of you have already recognised Edith from The Anchor, where she worked for a long time. Hungarian by birth, but living in Ripley.
We are delighted to have her join our team.
Edith is the first in our series of quick interviews - 'A Minute or Two on the Clock'
1. Salty or sweet?
2. An early fond food memory?
As my answer for question No. 1 shows, I don't really have a sweet tooth. My earliest food memory dates back to when I was about eight years old; I absolutely adored to help my grandpa in his huge (seemed to me at that time) garden and greenhouse to grow veggies. After any day that I spent with him out in the garden, he made me some lunch from the veggies that I picked. My favourite was the gypsy steak made with lots of garlic, and salad on the side. That was probably the time when I fell in love with vegetables - especially onions in any form, and still when I cook at home I always prefer dishes to contain lots of shallots, onion, spring onion, garlic, chives etc.... So definitely my earliest foodie memories are my lunches with grandpa. (The funny thing is that my grandpa was an excellent chef, but my poor grandma couldn’t even make a simple scrambled egg; she was only famous among us for her tea).
3. Lazy Sunday breakfast treat?
Smashed avocado on toast with poached eggs and smoked salmon.
4. Favourite tipple?
I am a wine lover, or if its summertime, Aperol Spritz .
5. Secret indulgence?
My top food indulgence is probably to order a whole fish and work my way through eating with my hands and licking my fingers!
