Nyetimber Trip Tuesday 17th March
It takes a lot of attention to detail to make the finest English sparkling wine; one to rival the very best in the world, including champagne.
On arrival at Nyetimber, we were welcomed into what I can only say is a haven of warmth (Nyetimber’s Private tasting room) - very cosy, with fire lit, cloud-like lighting and a view leading down over the lake.
A short walk across the way, and we found ourselves in Block 4 planted with Chardonnay vines. From here our tour of the vineyards extended through Nyetimber’s 25 year plus history, knowledge of the plantings and insider knowledge of what we might see launched in the near future. (but Mum’s the word!).
We returned to the comfort of Nyetimber’s tasting room, where we were met with an interesting and informative tasting of the full range:
The Classic Cuvee 2009 – wonderfully biscuity with lemon tart and floral notes.
The Blanc de Blancs 2007 – great acidity, with fresh peach and citrus.
The Rose 2009 – lovely blackcurrant and strawberry with mint and spice(Created using a black glass)
The Demi-sec 2009 – glorious lemon, honey and a hint of tangerine.
So a truly inspiring trip and our thanks to Patrick from Hennings Wines and Luke from Nyetimber for their fine hospitality.
